Is Your Fake Christmas tree Making You Sick?

ID-100372160The festive season is here and many people opt for the fake Christmas trees for different reasons. Some of the reasons are allergies to pollen, ease of cleaning the tree, and even upon the recommendation of a firefighter.

Previously, the American Christmas Tree Association, a non-profit organization, has been educating people that fake Christmas trees made of PVC is not dangerous.

Health experts now disagree that PVC, a synthetic plastic, is safe. According to Glenn Harnett M.D, Chief Medical Officer of American Family Care, PVC releases volatile organic compounds which may irritate the eyes, nose, airways and the lungs. PVC also contains phthalates that lead to lower testosterone in humans and lab animals.
