Study Ties School Calendar to Asthma Flare-Ups

school girlLauren Meyers, a professor of integrative biology and statistics and data services at the University of Texas, says that the school calendar can predict the transmission of common cold and the exacerbation of asthma.

According to the study, asthma symptoms will tend to increase when schools begin during fall or when schools resume after the spring break. The study suggested that it could be as a result of factors such as air quality in school and other environmental aspects.

The findings will help to improve public health strategies aimed at keeping asthmatic children. For example, doctors can encourage people to adhere to the preventative medications.
