Catarrh and postnasal drip can originate from the tonsils

Chronic discharge from deep crypts in the tonsils can cause catarrh and postnasal drip symptoms, along with bad breath and taste. It's caused by food and salivary debris trapping deep inside, where it rots and liquifies, causing a chronic discharge. See arrow above. Treatment is with laser vapourisation of the tonsils under local anaesthetic spray.
