Deep holes in the tonsils cause food and salivary debris to accumulate and compress into tonsil stones, which decomposes and causes a bad taste and bad breath. Treatment is by partial laser tonsillectomy under local anaesthetic spray which removes the tonsil leaving a flat surface with no holes or cracks. More than one procedure may be required.
