Bad breath and tonsil stones

  • 1 min read

Tonsil stones are accumulations of salivary debris and food. They form in holes and cracks that appear on the tonsil surface, often after tonsillitis. Since they are organic, they rot, causing a bad taste and smell. Up to 40% if us have them.

Treatment is by palliative means such as water jets, picks, mouthwashes, or curative means such as traditional tonsillectomy or laser tonsil vapourisation under local anaesthetic spray.
