Snorer's uvula causes obstruction and loud snoring. Can also be a factor in sleep apnoea.

This is a long and thick uvula sitting on the back of the tongue. It causes catarrhal symptoms as the patient can feel it. And it is the main site of sound production in snoring. There is a laser operation under local anaesthetic to remove it as it is redundant tissue. It's called laser assisted uvulopalatoplasty, or LAUP. I've been doing this procedure since 1996 after I visited the inventor, Yes Kamami in Paris, where he taught me how to do it.
