Nose blockage can be a chronic, perennial problem. Patients complain of loss of smell, mouth breathing, snoring. It is a very off putting symptom.

An Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Surgeon will diagnose the problem, from a deviated septum, adenoid enlargement, nose polyps or rhinitis. These are the main causes. Rhinitis affects up to 40% of us in the Western world. So its treatment for blocked nose is very important. Usually it responds to anti histamine or steroid therapy. However sometimes surgery is needed to shrink a very swollen inferior turbinate which is causing the blockage (see picture). At HealthHub we do laser turbinoplasty under local anaesthetic, a lunchtime procedure.
